THIS GAME IS FANTASTIC!!!!! My 8 year old son requested this for Christmas. Since Santa was bringing him a PS2, we figured, why not? The price was very reasonable.

You plug the mat into the PS2 console, put in the disk and you are ready to dance. Starting out in the game mode was rather intimidating to him. If you don’t hit enough moves exactly on the mark, you are “boo’d” off the stage. Needless to say, he gave up after four or five tries. He’s a little sensitive to criticism. DON’T GIVE UP! THERE IS A TRAINING MODE!!!

In the training mode, you can miss all the marks and still continue to the end of the song. I had purchased an extra mat (another review) just in case what came with the system didn’t hold up. We plugged in the second mat, set it for two players in the training mode, and mom and son starting dancing.

We both looked like a couple of dorks, but we quickly got the hang of hitting the marks in the basic mode. We finally ventured back into the game mode (beginner level) and have not been “boo’d” off the stage again.

After looking at the more advanced modes, I don’t know how I’ll be able to do all those moves without requiring hip replacement, but I’ll continue to try. I’m sure though that youth will win out and my boy will be dancing through the difficult level in no time.

The greatest thing is that we have been laughing and sharing a great time together. Two hours will pass before we know it and we’ve had one heck of a workout. I’m a 52 year old woman who works in an office all day and not a light weight. I’ve lost 5 pounds so far without trying and had fun doing it. There is also a work out mode also.)

So, if you’ve been considering this product, go for it. I hope you dance!

I’m no ddr master, so take this review with the noob view that is written with lol

I bought this bundle because I had no mat, no game, and still had a working ps2 around, and this was on sale. I was searching for a ddr set and heard good things about supernova1, so purchased it, on sale. PS2 has the most ddr’s on any console, and the ultramix3&4 for 360 got such terrible reviews, I think my supernova2 purchase was a good one.

My total virgin experince ddr’ing has been good so far with this set. The songs are not superfast, you can set them on four levels of difficulty, ‘beginner’ is VERY slow, and helpful. The options in the game allow you to make your chosen difficulty lvl easier or harder, which i thought was genius, because easy might be too easy or basic might be too hard, so you get to adjust. You can switch your step patterns around 180 degrees, or backwards, forwards, etc., which must be great for not becoming physically out of balance, if you like to re-dance the same songs.

The menu is fairly straight-forward with little frustration. The songs are pop-ish and sexy, it’s funny how songs you’d never listen to, you find are perfect to ddr too, and vice versa. I’m impressed with the way you can modify the screen, dancers, brightness, arrows, steps, speed, and difficulty. i sat there for a good hour, tweaking it til i got it the way i liked it.

The ‘workout’ mode is my favorite. You can pick a song one by one to workout to; you can choose their pre-selected workout list, or make 9 more custom lists of your own so the songs play back to back with no stopping. It keeps track of calories burned and time, as well. And you can set the workout mode to go for as many minutes as you want to work out, which i love. If i am trying to make myself do x amount of time, i put it in, it keeps going and keeps track for me.

For a first time ddr’er, I think supernova2 is a good buy. I’m happy with it, and i’m clueless atm. I will be amazed if I ever get to a lvl 4 difficulty lvl. I see it having long term play-ablity for me. I bought it for fitness, and I sweat, it’s a great cardio workout, and there’s just something about the video game aspect of it that makes you want to ‘play’ so much more than any regular workout video.

Fun’s the greatest motivator of all.

All and all, I’m totally satisfied with my purchase of the supernova2 bundle for ps2.

This was bought as a Christmas present for my 15 year old..Her college age sibling came home for the holidays..and the competition was on….It only comes with one pad…so the kids went searching for an additional one. All of us including the adults ended up bring the new year in playing DDR.. We started around 6pm and it lasted until around 12:30 am..What a blast…Mom, Dad and the littlest started on Beg-Beg and Stand-Beg and the older kids started on Standard-(Basic/Advanced)..If you have more than one that wants to play you need two mats…It allows you to set two different speeds on each level. Like the Basic setting one mat on Beginner and the other on Advanced…That way the oldest can still play with the youngest….Also the Super Nova is a lot easier and forgiving than the DDR Max 2 …

We purchased this for my kids for Christmas. They have had a blast with it. We’ve used it a lot (but only for two days so far), but no problems yet. The mat does tend to slip just a bit during play, but you just adjust it between songs, and it is no big deal. You start out with a lot of songs and then you can unlock even more as you play.

Our pediatrician recommended this as a workout for our couch potato kid, and now I (mom) am dancing, too. More convenient – and cheaper – than going outside or to the gym!
