I received this yesterday and unpacked it in a bedroom. Phew! That room became immediately full of a strong smell like moth balls or a vinyl-related smell. It started to give me a headache. I put it in the basement overnight. Now the basement smells bad, so I’ve put the pad outside to air out.
Needless to say, I’ll be airing it out for quite a while (days?) before I’ll bring it into the family room to hook up to our Wii!
If you live in a setting where you can’t easily get good ventilation, be wary of opening the packaging until you do.
Please ignore the 4-star ratings. I’m not rating the game itself. I’m just warning about a characteristic of it as it arrives. (Amazon doesn’t seem to let you post a comment on this item without providing a star rating.)

It seems the mat selection for the Wii DDR is very limited. I purchased this mat so that a second player could play. Overall the mat works OK but I prefer the mat that came with the game to this one. My biggest complaint is that you can really feel the joints in the foam under the dance pad. It comes in sections so that it fits in the box and then you put it together. I need to try and put something between the mat and the foam to try and solve the problem.
It is nice a cushioning under my feet. This really only matters if you play for very long periods of time. It also doesn’t move around or bunch up. (We only have a slight problem with the other mat moving around but it’s not a big deal.)
Overall not worth the money for a second mat but not a bad product.

I had tried some other mats (both the one that came with the Wii DDR game, and one of the “flat” mats from [...]) and they just don’t handle the harder game levels very well. I even tried attaching the pads to plywood using clear vinyl sheeting, but it just didn’t last for long. But this pad is great (so far … only about about a half dozen uses). I put some strong vinyl padding inside the cover, between the top and the foam pad that is included; this prevented the uncomfortable feel of the edges of the foam pad that was included (it comes in six pieces, and so you can feel the joins while dancing). This has worked out wonderfully, and it also makes the mat heavier, which I like.
