I wanted to avoid bringing a game system into the house. <br /> <br />The mat worked great right out of the box. I just plugged it into a USB port on the PC, and we've had no problems with it. My son's only complaint was that it doesn't have arrows printed on the diagonal buttons as some other mats do. At first, he also complained that the foam was too firm, again, compared to other mats he has used. This complaint went away after several hours of use. The plastic on the top of the mat is shiny, a little bit crinkly and wrinkly, and will smell of unpleasant chemicals for several days after it's unpacked. It stays in place well and doesn't slip even when subjected to enthusiastic hoofing. <br /> <br />My only complaint is that the product description suggested that the mat came with DDR software.
